Encompassing nearly 16 acres, Mission Dolores Park is one of San Francisco’s most popular parks, the vibrant heart of its equally vibrant, culturally diverse neighborhood. Here you’ll find lush green lawns shaded by tall palm trees, a soccer field, six tennis courts, one basketball court, a playground, a dog play area, and a clubhouse with recreational facilities. Many festivals, performances, and other cultural events are held here, and on sunny afternoons people flock to the park to play, picnic, lounge, walk their dogs, and enjoy spectacular views of the city’s skyline and beyond.
The playground has fun climbing structures appropriate for any age from toddlers to big kids, including several enormous slides (and some little ones), bridges, and webs of rope. There are swings for the the youngest and oldest of kids, a sandbox, percussion instruments, and more.
The park has easy access to great food in the mission if you didn’t bring your own picnic- cafes, bakeries, markets, restaurants, and ice cream are all within one block.
