The California Academy of Sciences is unlike any museum here in the Bay Area. You can watch divers during feeding time inside the Aquarium, travel through a rainforest, watch a film in the Planetarium or visit the Early Explorers Cove. Your child will be delighted with all of the amazing things they can see and do here.

The Early Explorer’s Cove is a popular activity area for children 0-5 years and their adult friends. It’s has games, a child-sized boat, a mini farmers’ market and other child-sized features for them to enjoy. They only let so many kids inside the cove at a time so go early. Once inside the cove, they ask you to limit your visit to 30 minutes.

Kids programming such as: Toddler Treks, Little Naturalists, Saturday Safari, and Junior Academy are offered throughout each month at the Early Explorer’s Cove. To buy tickets or find dates and times for these programs please visit their website.

I probably take my toddler to the California Academy of Sciences once a week. He is mesmerized by all the fish in the aquarium and we always pay a visit to the Early Explorer’s Cove, which is a play area for the young ones. The Cove is small, but thoughtfully designed and offers plenty to keep the little ones engaged.
